Why did Brad Womack go back on The Bachelor?

Spoiler alert.  I know how The Bachelor: Brad Womack Version 2.0 ends.

Let me first start by saying that this time around, I won't be liveblogging The Bachelor.  There are many reasons.  When The Bachelor as I knew it began in 2007, I seized upon the opportunity to ride the tuxedo tails of a newly created national celebrity to drive traffic to my blog.  Three years later, I don't need the traffic. In 2007, I lived in an apartment with a roommate who I didn't like who had a TV, which was a good way to avoid her for an hour.  Three years later, I own a house and live alone and don't have a TV.  In 2007, I also enjoyed drinking champagne and eating edamame on Monday nights.  Three years later, I've switched to beer.

Now, on to the spoiler.  I will preface that by saying that I have absolutely no insider information and that this is entirely speculation.  However, I called it from go in 2007 that he didn't pick anyone, and I feel compelled to call it again.

So, ladies, here's how this is going to go down:

It's three years later and Brad's learned a lot.  After The Bachelor drama of 2007, he's put his heart on the shelf and invested himself even more into his health regime and successful business enterprises.

But there's something missing.

[Cue shot of The Bachelor staring longingly into the sunset from the Molotov patio.]

"It seems like everything's just fitting together for me, you know, professionally," The Bachelor says.  "But I can't seem to get one part of my life right, you know?"

We know.  There will be a parade of gowns.  The usual.  Maybe they film this in Austin.  Or possibly Vegas.  Whatever the case, my personal, completely non-insider opinion is that somewhere in there, there's a girl that Brad already knows.

I'm guessing that this girl is from Austin or tried out in Austin to be a bachelorette (little 'b' not the Bachelorette).  Maybe it's that girl Laurel who's managed to date every dude from Austin who's appeared on the Bachelor franchise in the last five years, but that seems too obvious.  I'm also thinking they don't show that this girl lives in Austin, but maybe they do. Whatever the case, this girl was at some point romantically involved with Brad and at some point in her auditions, let is slip (or offered up) that they'd had a thing.

The Bachelor People contact Brad and tell him the situation.  The girl's been cast.  Does he want a chance to come on the show and pick her?  Or, possibly, find someone better and pick her instead (that'd be the real twist the producers would want - to reveal at the end that he knew the girl all along and she'd been expecting him to pick her).  Whatever the case, it's a win for the producers and a win for Brad.  Maybe he really does find his true love, or maybe he just ends up with someone who he already more or less knows.  Or maybe he gets a ton of publicity for his successful businesses.

I'll end with this:  Despite public opinion, Brad Womack's a really, really nice guy.  But...The Bachelor?  Not so much.

Kudos to you! My husband and I are a part of a couples date night where we weekly watch Bachelor / Bachelorette. (Don't judge... it's silly fun). And you broke the much anticipated news to us first! And when I texted the 3 of them, none of them knew. Great job!
