Mean Rachel Roundup
Here's some stuff I think is kinda cool as we head into the weekend:
Political
- "Democratic" gubernatorial candidate Tom Scheiffer is going to be at Sholz Beer Garten tonight (Friday) from 5-8 PM. Here's your chance to go ask him why he likes Dubya and why the Rangers suck. Why is this not being publicized more on le blogs? I saw it buried in the Austin Chronicle.
- Tomorrow (Saturday) is Election Day for the Austin municipal races. I encourage you to get out and vote tomorrow. Place 1 candidate Perla Cavazos and others need your vote.
- Kudos to ManShac for sending me two noteworthy articles this morning - What is Disgrace? and some data as to whether the world is getting better.
Mean Rachel-isms
- Congrats to PetRelocation.com, the leading worldwide pet travel and pet moving company based right here in Austin, Texas. Not only are we one of Austin Business Journal's Top 50 Best Places to Work in Central Texas, but last night in London we were named the Relocation Service Provider of the Year by Re:locate Magazine. A launch party is planned for May 20th at Molotov Lounge (thank you Brad!), and also is sponsored by Tito's Vodka, Sweet Leaf Tea and Dagar's Catering. Details and RSVP here. Come drink and eat for free, and sha
ke your tailfeather. Just don't ask us to ship it to Taiwan.
- Come out tonight to Nadine's 88, a new swankienda hidden above Paradise Bar on E. 6th, to see Joe the Drummer (remember him?) and Russell the pianist play some Ivory Cat throwbacks. I recommend dining at Parkside beforehand and walking over. Perfect piano-tastic night!
- How awesome is the Austin Wine Festival logo this year? If it wasn't at the stupid Domain, I might actually go. Ironic that it uses the skyline which you will never see from Duval and Mopac. Next year they should do it at Auditorium Shores or the Long Center.
Have a great weekend everybody! Try not to take yourself too seriously!
